When Will CBSE Phase 2 Result 2026 Be Declared?

CBSE Class 10 Phase 2 (Second Board) Result 2026 is expected within 30 days of the exam ending. The Phase 2 exam runs from 15 May to 21 May 2026, so the expected result window is between 15 June 2026 and 30 June 2026.

Since this is the first Phase 2 result under the new two-board system, CBSE has not committed to a specific date. Based on Phase 1 (declared 41 days after exam end on 15 April 2026) and historical compartment exam timelines (typically 30–40 days), late June is the most likely window. The exact date will be announced on the official CBSE website at cbse.gov.in a few days before declaration.

How to Check CBSE Phase 2 Result 2026 — Three Ways

Once declared, your Phase 2 result will be available across three official channels. The CBSE website is the primary source; DigiLocker and UMANG mirror the same data.

The Big Question: How Phase 1 + Phase 2 Marks Combine

This is the most-asked question among students and parents. CBSE follows a clean rule called "Best of Two": for each subject, the higher of your Phase 1 and Phase 2 score is what appears on your final marksheet. There is no averaging, no penalty for lower Phase 2 score, no asterisks on the certificate.

In this example, the student improved their aggregate by 2.6 percentage points by reappearing in 3 subjects. The Science score from Phase 1 was retained because Phase 2 was lower — no penalty.

For Compartment Students: Different Rules Apply

If you are in compartment category (failed in 1 or 2 subjects in Phase 1), the rules are slightly different:

• You must clear each failed subject in Phase 2. "Best of two" doesn’t help if both attempts are below 33%.
• Passing requires 33% in theory + 33% in internal assessment + 33% overall. Internal marks come from your Phase 1 record.
• Once cleared, your final marksheet shows you as PASSED with the Phase 2 marks for the previously-failed subjects.
• If you fail again in Phase 2, you’ll need to reappear in CBSE Class 10 Phase 1 2027 (Feb–Mar) as a private candidate.

Will the Marksheet Say "Improvement" or "Compartment"?

This is one of the biggest concerns students have, especially for Class 11 admissions and college applications later. The answer:

No, the final marksheet-cum-certificate does not carry any "improvement" or "compartment" tag. Once you pass through Phase 2, your certificate looks identical to that of any Phase 1-only student. It simply shows:

• Subject names
• Theory marks (the higher of Phase 1 / Phase 2)
• Internal assessment marks (from Phase 1)
• Total marks per subject
• Overall result: PASSED

This is intentional. The whole purpose of NEP 2020’s two-board system is to remove the stigma of compartment / improvement attempts. Schools, colleges, and employers seeing your marksheet won’t know whether you appeared in Phase 1 only or both phases.

Class 11 Admission — Will Schools Wait for Phase 2 Result?

Most CBSE-affiliated schools in India give provisional Class 11 admissions based on Phase 1 results, with stream allocation finalized after Phase 2 results are out (mid-late June 2026). The two policies you’ll see are:

Policy A: Wait for Final Marks (Most Common)

Many schools, especially metro and reputed ones, hold off final stream confirmation until Phase 2 results. If your Phase 2 score raises your aggregate above the cut-off for your preferred stream (Science / Commerce), you’ll be allotted that stream automatically once the final marksheet is ready.

Policy B: Provisional + Re-allocation

Some schools allocate streams immediately after Phase 1 with the right to revise after Phase 2. If your Phase 2 score boosts your aggregate, you can request a stream upgrade in late June or early July.

Talk to your school’s Class 11 admissions cell to know which policy applies. Don’t finalise Class 11 admissions in May without checking this.

What If You Were Absent in Phase 2?

If you registered for Phase 2 but didn’t appear:

• Improvement candidates: Your Phase 1 score for that subject continues as your final score. No penalty — your Phase 1 result was already valid.
• Compartment candidates: The failure in Phase 1 remains. You will need to reappear in next year’s Phase 1 main exam (Feb–Mar 2027) as a private candidate. Class 11 admission will be delayed by a year for that subject’s clearance.

Based on Phase 1 numbers and historical trends, here’s what the overall Phase 2 result picture is likely to look like:

• Total candidates: ~6.68 lakh (5.25 lakh improvement + 1.43 lakh compartment + overlap)
• Most opted subject: Science (~4.74 lakh students)
• Expected pass percentage (compartment): Historically 80–85% of compartment students clear in their first re-attempt — the bar is just 33%.
• Expected improvement gain: Most improvement candidates gain 3–8 marks per subject in Phase 2 over Phase 1 — aggregate boost of 2–5 percentage points is typical.
