CBSE Class 10 Verification & Re-evaluation 2026
If your marks do not look right, CBSE gives you three separate facilities — a scanned copy of your answer book, verification of marks, and re-evaluation. They run in a fixed order, and the order is what catches most students out.
The rule that decides whether you can apply
You can only apply for verification or re-evaluation if you already obtained the scanned copy of your answer book. The photocopy window closes before the verification window opens, so if you missed it, you are not eligible this year — there is no way to apply for both at once, and no late window.
This changed in 2026. Earlier you could ask for verification first and see the answer book later. Now the answer book comes first, so that you can look at the marking before deciding whether it is worth paying for anything more.

Both facilities cover students of the Main Board and the Second Board examinations. If you took a subject in both exams you may obtain both answer books, but you can request verification or re-evaluation for only one of them.
Verification or re-evaluation — which one do you need?
Verification of marks
A clerical check. Someone confirms that every question was marked, that no answer was missed, and that the totals were added correctly.
Choose this if your total looks wrong for the answers you wrote, or you suspect a page went unmarked.
Re-evaluation
A fresh assessment. Your answer to a specific question is marked again against the official marking scheme.
Choose this if you compared your answer to the marking scheme and believe it deserved more marks than it got.
This is exactly why the photocopy comes first. With the answer book in front of you, and the marking scheme alongside it, you can see which of the two you actually need — instead of paying for both and hoping.
How to apply, step by step
Get the scanned answer book
Apply during the photocopy window and pay the per-subject fee. Everything below depends on this step.
Compare it against the marking scheme
Go question by question. Note the ones where your answer matches the scheme but the marks do not. Write down the question numbers — you will need them.
Open the CBSE portal and log in
Use your examination and candidate details on the official post-result portal. Apply only through CBSE's own site.
Select the answer book and the facility
Choose the subject, then verification, re-evaluation, or both. For re-evaluation you select each full question and give your reason.
Pay and submit
Pay the fee, submit, and save the confirmation. If your marks increase, the fee is refunded to the account you paid from.
What happens after you apply
The result of verification is published on the CBSE website. If your marks change, a revised statement follows through your regional office. If nothing changes, you will usually not receive a separate letter — checking the portal is on you.

Common questions
I missed the photocopy window. Can I still apply for verification?
No. Obtaining the scanned answer book is a precondition, and its window closes before the verification window opens. There is no combined application and no late window.
Can my marks go down after re-evaluation?
Yes. Re-evaluation is a fresh assessment against the marking scheme, and the revised marks are final whether they go up, down, or stay the same. Verification is different — it only checks for marking and totalling errors.
Do I get the fee back?
The fee is refunded to the original payment account if your marks increase. If they do not change, the fee is not refunded.
Can I apply for more than one subject?
Yes. Verification is charged per answer book, so each subject is a separate fee. Re-evaluation is charged per question.
How long does it take?
CBSE does not commit to a fixed turnaround. Outcomes have historically taken several weeks from the close of the window. Check the portal rather than waiting for a letter.
